About Us
Singapore Maritime Academy

Formed by the merger of the Maritime Technology and Transportation Department (MTT) of the Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and the National Maritime Academy (NMA) of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, SMA is one of the oldest ‘schools’ of the Singapore Polytechnic – its forerunner having been established at SP in 1957.

SMA inherited a rich history from its two merged partners. A combined experience of over 80 years in maritime education and training made SMA an established maritime school from its inception. SMA received the “Best Seafarer Training Institute” in 2000 and 2002 and also the “Youth Development” Award in 2004 and 2005 from Lloyd’s List Maritime Asia.

As the country’s vital maritime training institution, SMA offers a variety of Maritime Diplomas, Specialist Diplomas as well as Certificate of Competency Courses and STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping) Courses.
